Tacura Strategy Meeting | January 2023

Team Tacura gathered with colleagues from across Europe for the first time in 2023, to celebrate the successes of 2022 and to launch a brand new business strategy - The Dive! 

Each January we bring together teams from across Europe to our Herefordshire HQ to celebrate the successes and achievements of the previous year, reward our longest serving team members and share our plans for the year ahead, we also welcome a guest speaker to share their story with us. 

This year we launched a brand new business strategy, titled 'The Dive' so when it came to finding a speaker whose experiences would resonate with the team and align with the new strategy, we dove deep into the ocean and were joined by Chris Lemons, a Deep Sea Saturation Diver. 

ABOUT CHRIS
Chris has been a commercial diver for over 14 years, and currently specialises in deep sea Saturation diving, operating almost exclusively in the Oil and Gas Industry.

This highly specialised form of diving involves living in the claustrophobic confines of a decompression chamber for up to 28 days at a time, commuting daily to the sea bed in a diving bell, and working at depths of up to 900 feet for 6 hours at a time.

In September of 2012, a freak failure of the dynamic positioning system of the vessel he was working under, resulted in the umbilical which provides him with breathing gas, light and heat being severed completely. He was left on the sea bed, in complete darkness 300 feet below the surface, with only the 5 minutes of breathing gas he carried in the emergency tanks on his back, and no way to protect himself from the freezing temperatures.

It took his heroic rescuers over 40 minutes to come back and fetch him, and his miraculous survival story has baffled experts ever since.
A QUIET TACURA TEAM IS VERY RARE...
Chris had a captivated audience throughout his presentation, where he moved beyond the miracle and communicated how teamwork, preparation, training, procedures, drills and practice played a huge role in his recovery and survival, and how the nature of how these are implemented can benefit your sphere of work or life.
This was followed by an animated Q&A session where practices and procedures were scrutinised by our Health and Safety Lead, Alex Cafe!

TACURA experienced impressive results during 2022, and with the year being the final stage of the 'Project Ascent' business strategy we pushed hard to 'the summit' providing our customers with excellent service and outstanding products.
